The Gaddi women of Holi Panchayat have been protesting against the re-alignment of the tunnel of GMR’s 180 MW Hydropower Project since the past 2 years. They have been demanding that the tunnel be shifted from the highly forested and populated left bank to the right bank of the Ravi river as planned. The state government has shown little concern for the issues raised by the protestors. Infact the local contractors and Police have been exercising pressure on the women to withdraw their protest through intimidation.
